Two Years Without a Club – Coach with 71 Regional League Appearances Has a New Team

After two years without a club, Mark Zeh has found a new team. Or rather: an old one.

Mark Zeh is back. The 42-year-old, a native of Essen, is returning to the sidelines at FC Wegberg-Beeck. Wegberg-Beeck, currently tenth in the Mittelrheinliga, has parted ways with its previous head coach, Albert Deuker.

“The decisive factor in the separation was a disagreement over the team’s sporting direction. Along with Albert Deuker, the two assistant coaches, André Lehnen and Thomas Thönnessen, have also left the club,“ the Beeck club announced regarding the ”mutually agreed separation.“

As early as Tuesday, February 10, Mark Zeh, a familiar face, will take over training of the team. ”We never lost touch with Mark, even after his first stint with us. He is eager to help the team and the club through a difficult phase and will take on the role until the end of the season,” said Beeck’s first managing director, Werner Tellers.

Zeh was previously in charge of the team from March 2021 to February 2024, but was relieved of his duties three days after a 0-2 home loss to 1. FC Bocholt.

Points Table

“Following the developments of the past few weeks and, most recently, five consecutive competitive losses, the team urgently needs a fresh start,” Tellers had said at the time. Now, he is returning to the Waldstadion until the end of the current season.

According to RS-Infos, Mark Zeh had also been in talks with SSVg Velbert recently. In October, SSVg was looking for a successor to Ismail Jaouri.

“I wasn’t a current candidate at SSVg Velbert. The topic came up in the summer, but not now,” Zeh told RevierSport at the time, adding that there had been no contact.

He continued: “I had a lot on my plate professionally and took some time off. We’ll see what comes up in the future. Any potential offer would have to be interesting.” He has now found that, at least for the time being, back at FC Wegberg-Beeck. He brings with him experience from 71 matches in the Regionalliga West and 30 games in the Mittelrheinliga.
